I just went to the "autorama" and there was a truck with a mtx 12 in it, and instead of it being in a box, the inside of the cab acted as the enclosure. Does anyone know how that works?

Are you sure it wasn't a cut through? You don't see many free air installs anymore. I can't imagine how you would get one to work in a truck. Typical free air installs were in older cars with non folding rear seats. This way the seat back acted as the baffle and the entire trunk would be the 'box".
