OK I decided on the subs................

I went to a local stereo store Al & Ed's where my friend got his ASWOME stereo that sounds great, and decided on the subs I'm going to get, 2 10" kicker comp vr's. I listened to them and like them so I believe this is what I am going with. Now im ditching the factory 6-cd under the rear because they are building me a custom box that will fit and so I decided to go with a Panasonic Dot Matrix CD player. Now my question is what kind of amp for this setup???? How many channels???? Im hoping that this will all be done just right after christmas, after I get some money for presents. : )

The Kicker Comp VR 10's handle 300 watts each (150 per voice coil). You can get a 2 channel or 4 channel amp, the only thing you have to do is wire it correctly (you don't want to wire the subs to a 1 ohm load if the amp is only 2 ohm stable...). What is your budget for the amp?

GO LUNAR!!!

man, go lunar... sister company of rockford that uses the old school style amps that are indistructable... also another sister company of rockford... Dragster... bad a$$ subs and amps (make comp subs with a kevlar cone and die cast basket). But look around for lunar, or go to www.lunaramplifiers.com they also make almost indistructable subs (only one ive seen that blew was a 8" that the audio shop blew just to see how far it could go... ran that sucker at 1 ohm on a 800 watt amp. we blew the voice coil and we took out the sub and it looked like we had a few pounds of dry ice in the box... $90 to fix for "inappropriate excess power levels") but we embarrased the sony xplode focus a few months back with 2 10s and pumpin about 450 apiece... alo the amps are available in a 60x8 (for the expy, nav, and excursion owners) and they show you that great things can come in small packages... most amps from lunar have 9 leds that you can see thru a lil window on the amp that shows you how much of the amp youre using. just check it out guys, they are some of the best unknown amplifiers around. i guess you can say theyre built ford tough... Also they beat out most competitors at sound offs... bud of mine threw a 115.3 outlaw spl in a STANG CONVERTABLE!

EDIT: Lunar amps are hand built, and they focus mostly on clarity and power

hhs_swimmer--

If I am not mistaken, Lunar is not owned by Fosgate. I can get some clarification probably later this afternoon. I know the gentleman that owns half of Lunar Amps.

You're right, they are bad a$$ amps if they are matched with the proper equipment for the SQ. Virtually every amp has the potential to be great, you just have to know the internal "brains" of the specific amp to turn out the power. I know personally there is a guy that has a Fosgate 800W Monoblock that is pushing (i think) 1600W-- of course most of this is unrecognized power, but the power is there.

That's what makes Lunar so good. You have a professional staff (not $5 an hour) building amps that are designed to play the way most amps aren't.

Just had to verify-

Lunar Amps has absolutely NO connection to Rockford Fosgate.

They are owned and operated out of Louisiana by an individual.

If I hadn't already set up my system to run Phoenix Gold, I would definately use Lunar or midified Fosgates.
