subbox for supercrew

Hi everyone,

I am new to this sight. I have a 2002 supercrew I was thinking of adding some subs, but I am not sure where I can put them. I have been looking at building a custom box behind the rear seat. I was wondering if anyone who has accomplished this could share some advice or ideas. all help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

I was looking for the same thing.

Anyone know how tough it is to install an amp to power the sub, using the existing radio?

Additionally, what about another amp to power the stock speakers, using the stock head unit?

Thanks for your input.

I am putting 2 Diamond Audio 10" subs in a custom fit MDF box I am building to fit (only 3 sided) behind the back seats in my Screw. There is probably exactly enough room to run a 5 1/2"-5 3/4" mounted depth 10" sub. which is what I am fitting.
as for hooking up an amp to a stock head unit YES it is not hard. All you need is a line-level-adaptor, But you will only run your amp at about 70% of it's capability and as for putting an amp to stock door speakers OH yeah! you just have to make sure you use a good amp! cuz distortion kills speakers 99% of the time before overpowering them will. as for both amp setups to the stock HU you will lose your ability to easily up the bass output ( due to not having a fadind sub pre-out like an aftermarket radio). hope this helps. I can post digital pics of my sub install progress if someone can tell me what all I need to do. Later

If you have the measurements and wouldn’t mind showing them, I would appreciate it. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to fit a 10 in such a small space.
Thanks,
Johnny

I put together a gallery. You should be able to find it by searching for "bigriggs" in the galleries I posted a few pics there and can email more to you if you would like.

The mounting depth is just a hair less than 5 3/4" (5 11/16th's?). I will probably cut out the sub's holes in my box today or tmw, and I'll add those pic's right after.

more subbox progress and a seat lift!

I think this link should work?

I got both sub holes cut into my box and I think I will do the side plates in the next day or so. I also needed to make a little more room behind my seats so I went to Home Depot and bought some longer bolts to bolt my rear seats to the floor ( 10-1.5mm x 50mm) and stacked two 5/8th inch nuts to be my 1.25" spacer. It works great, the seat folds up and down fine and I have alot more room behind the seat to use. I will post a pic probably tommorrow of the seat lift stuff.

Thumbs up

bigriggs, Please let us know how the seat lift works out! Include detailed pics and instructions. I have been trying to figure out how to get a large sub behind my seat and it sounds like you may have figured it out.

BTW, your back wall is coming together very nicely.
