Position of Subwoofer

2 questions.

1) Should I position the 8" sub? Passenger side or driver's side under the back seat?

2) Should the sub fire down into the floor or should it fire up into the seat bottom?

I'm looking to build my own box to save some money. Thanks.

Side doesn't matter as far as the sound goes. Most people have gotten better (louder) results with a downfire box.

Good Luck!

You will have far more success with a sub that fires down inside a F150 ext. cab. Make sure that there is 1.5-2" inches of clearance under the sub.

Go for BIGGER!

1.1cu.ft and an Audiobahn Alum12. With the dual 6ohm coils it's only seeing around 600-700wrms from my US Acoustics USX1000F amp but it pounds pretty good.

I had a 10" Denon sub many years ago.... I built a bigger box a month after having the 10" box custom-built.

With my box I can still seat 3 in the back with relative comfort, the passenger behind the driver's seat just has his/her legs towards the middle of the floor that's all.

I'm looking at replacing my Alum12 with a Beyond Audio INHUMAN 12" or Adire Audio Brahma, or DD 9512. Not sure yet. Going for serious bass.

Really, I was thinking something a little smaller. Preferably Rockford, JL, or Eclipse. Just need some bass. I had 2-12"s in my Thunderbird and was just too loud for me. That and I got sick of it after 3 years. My Punch 60.2 will run the sub and my CD player has subwoofer volume so I can adjust the amount of bass. Ideally, I'd like it to tuck neatly under the back seat. Now, I'm leaning for the driver's side so I can adjust my amps on the passenger side.

WTF, the sub is supposed to go INSIDE the box. And there are requirements for certain subs, as far as cu feet. don't just go build a box thats 2 cu feet for a 8 inch sub, an 8 inch should require only, .75 or less.

Downfire box, the sub is in the box and is turned over, facing down. it creates a better note, instead of facing it into open air.

i would say put it on the passenger side, i don't have ext. cab, so don't know which way to face it.

that 60.2 you got is a pretty good lil amp, i would suggest a RF -RFP3408 sub, it's 4ohm, and requires 0.3-0.5 cu. ft. sealed....I have the RFP 3810 10" subs(paralleled to 4ohms) they are good subs.

Don't get the RFZ series, they're junk.

Good Luck and have fun.
