Reasons for my Sub to cut out?

Before I start to troubleshoot can any one think of why my sub just died on me. I was driving back to work when it just quit. Everything else still works just not the sub. I did check the connections but not very well (did not have time) and will check them again this weekend.

I am just being lazy before I check it out myself.

Did you amp go into protection mode, or doesn't it have a protection mode. Does your amp power light come on? Give us some more info on what you have checked out so far.

Well here is what I have checked/replaced

Re-soldered all patch cords
Re-placed In-Line Fuse circuit break device
Re-spliced all wiring to amp and sub.

I realized I am not getting any power to the amp so I will be taking it in to have it tested to make sure. Before I send it back to RF.

Welll I took the sub out and put it in my friends truck and work fine. So it must be the amp. I will be dropping it off at a local car audio place to have it tested.

Hey do you have a fuse under the hood? If you didnt check that you should. I know my fosgate has a rockford fuse and housing by my battery. That would be my first suspect, if you have a volt meter check the power line against any ground, then if thats fine test your actual ground vs. the power cord. I wouldnt take the amp anywhere untill i had dont that. It's a safe bet its the amp if you found clean consistant power from both your power and ground. Amps are really ineffecient ..you lose alot of power through heat, this may also point to the amp needing cooling. Did you have it loud when it dropped out? That happend to me awhile back on another amp...cheap amps do that kinda crap alot but yours shouldnt be.
