Adjustable BASS

Im getting two tens, which doesn't sound like much, but together they can put out 2000 watts. Clearly, this'll be too much with just normal listening, and heres my question. Is it possible to be able to adjust the bass through the head unit, or something to lower the bass from the amp by my control? Something like that? Anyone have an idea to help me out? I wanna be able to change levels of my tweets + mids and my subs.

There are several ways to adjust the levels of all your speaks. The best probably being an EQ. It will depend on the equipment you have as to how you do yours. In my setup, I have a remote gain control for my amp, and the combination of this gain and the bass control on my HU I can adjust from almost no bass to window rattling bass at pretty much any volume level.

whats up guys! my system in my expy is just getting started, but i had them mount the amp beneath the passenger's seat so i can reach the gain from my seat. probably will add a remote gain adjuster later, but this works for now! i have 1 10" jl w/ a jl 250/1 amp in a stealth box in the cargo area. it really gets down. my gains stay at 0 or 1 on my amp all the time. i am still runnung the mach system hu, mids and highs, though.

A remote gain controller would work, but there are also head units with the feature. Some head units, with a dedicated subwoofer preout, have a volume/gain control just for the subwoofer.....JVC Digifine comes to mind....

I know that Rockford Fosgate offers some amps that have a remote gain that can be mounted just about anywhere. It connects to the amp via an rca jack. I have a Fosgate 800.2 and have the remote mounted down near the floor right under the dash. Plus, my head unit (Sony CDX) also has seperate controls.

My Phoenix Gold amp has this feature. With my bass ****, I have full control of the amp's volume.

There are many manufacturers of line level remote volume controls.

I installed an Audiobahn crossover with a volume & Q adjustment remote control. Works great.

BTW, I think you'll be upgrading from those two 10's drivers soon. 10" drivers just don't have enough piston area to sound impressive.

What defines SPL output? Cone Area (Sd) and Linear Excursion Capability (Xmax).

A JL Audio 10w3 has 53.5 inches square cone piston area and 14.7mm Xmax, where a 15w3 has 127.5 inches square area with 17.1mm Xmax.

In terms of raw output you'll need 3x10inch subs to equal a single 15 in this comparison.

I had a Denon 10" back in 1989 and I wanted more SPL a few days after I got it.

If you want to save the cash you can always reduce the bass on your head unit because that's adjusting the line level on the deck too. Of course that effects your main speakers as well but works.
