downfiring subs

I have 2 JBL10s under my rear seat of my 95 xcab. They are firing into the floor with about 2" betwen the sub and floor. It sounds good but I'm always looking for ways to improve it. I was wondering if it would help any to put something underneath the subs like plywood or plexiglass to help the sound "bounce off" instead of being absorbed into the carpet. Or does the carpet not absorb that much because it's a much lower freq? Thanks for any input.
