I have 5.25 in my front door on adapter plates. DiamondAudio components. My tweets are in the doors -- high -- several inches in front of the latch handle assembly. That was the only cutting I did. Considering the sound I got in return, I'd do it again. BTW, some folks use plywood for adapters. That's fine......easy and cheap. I bought a couple of those funky white, thinnish, lexan kitchen cutting boards from WalMart and cut 'em from those.

I have a similar project going on my L. I am puting a 6.5" MB Quarts in the factory locations, with the tweaters mounted beside. I have not had to cut any ont the doors but will have to drill new mounting holes. Keep rotating until you get them to fit, I am going to make a 1/4" spacer to make more clearance.

My Quarts may be a little different, physically than the current, as I purchased them in 1992.

6.5s will fit with adapter plates and no cutting (unless the speaker is too deep)
