Mistress getting new toys

Need some help as my understanding is limited with the Sony system. Here is what I have or know so far.
Signal processer - Kicker Front Row
Front Speakers - Component focal 165
Rear Speakers - Coax Focal 165

Need help with below.. please
First - I would like enough base to sound good and if I use a bypass (or what ever its called) to increase it to rumble car next to me. So would 2 10" or 2 8" be better? I know I need shallow mounts, suggestions? I also do not want to take up all the room under the back seat only go about half way.
Second - Amplifier run dual sub-woofers is it better to do a single amp for entire system like jl900/5 or to split the amps? Do I have enough room for 2 amps?

My last truck I tried and failed miserably I want this one I can be proud of.

Thanks
Quad

I can't help with everything, but I will a little. Are you wanting to have the subs only take up half of the space vertically under the seat? As in have down-firing box that you can lay things on top of, or one that is only on one side of the truck like a factory single sub?

Most 8" subs could probably fit without being shallow mounts, as well as some 10". Maybe you could get some shallow 8s and have room to put things on top of them. I can't say I've ever seen an under-seat box for a truck that had room to put things on top of it. If you want some space that has no woofer box, like how factory subs are, the space would be quite small unless each sub has its own box on either side under the seat.

You'd probably be happy with either as far as being able to "rumble" a little bit. Both sizes sound really good, but obviously aren't 15s. And lastly, normal woofers sound better than shallow-mounts, so personally, I'd like regular 8s vs. shallow 10s.

Much appreciated KMAC. I guess I have seen dual down firing sub-boxes go from door to door. As this is my primary family vehicle I need the room in the cab for kiddo and groceries. I am thinking coming from rear passenger door to about mid part of cab under seat. Any thoughts on the Amp situation I know 2 amps would be cheaper and easier to replace in case of failure, but is there room?

Ok, hmm. If you wanted to get a high quality, air tight box, like a ProBox brand one with just one 8 or 10" sub, it can hit harder than 2 in a cheap box. I have 2 12" subs in a generic, normal box and (I work at a car dealership and have heard at least a few ProBoxes) and a 10" in a ProBox sounds better and is louder. I know this is very general, but a great box really does make a world of difference. I knew this before buying mine, but those boxes are much more than I was willing to spend on one. I've thought about having mine coated in bed liner to seal it up, I think that would go a long way.

My amp fits under my driver's seat, but it's very compact, so you could probably get away with having one under each seat. I do think two would fit behind the rear seat on the wall of the cab, if you wanted to go that route as well. They could also fit if you were to only have that one box, as I'm sure they could be "stacked" with a rack. Where were you thinking of locating it or them? Under the rear bench, right? I've only ever seen 2 amps the few times I've seen door speakers amped. I wish I knew more about the 5 channels.

Problem with the seats that go under the seat, most are prefab sealed boxes. working at a audio shop for a few years ive learned to hate them. if you wanted a good under seat box look into pro box, highest quality ive seen. with most prefabs the usually come with very little finish nails in them and only glued on the seams. so sound quality will be lacking. for the sub end, we put 3 10" shallow mount phoneix gold in a show truck for a customer and that thing actually impressed me. sound do count out the shallows. and remember on your amps, try to find the lowest THD
