As far speakers go any brand you like,, would go with two or three way.

Now adding an amp adds a little more to the game. Might want to reconsider the stock radio idea. Try a aftermarket radio,, easier to add an amp to one of those.

Obviously you'd want a 4 channel amp for all four speakers. Wattage depends on speakers. Guessing 4 channels,, 400 hundred watts or more.

hope this helps.

A lot speakers from big brands are all "fine." There are also a lot of smaller companies that produce products that people are very happy with. I'd hop on Crutchfield though and look at reviews on speakers in your price range. Something to remember though is that the radio is much more important than the speaker choice. If you call them and explain your situation, they can recommend speakers for you and your options to get what you want out of your sound system. Their customer service is absolute the best in any industry, second to none and very helpful.

When I bought my 2006, I was very unhappy with the sound quality. It seemed that my speakers would break up at only moderate volume, so I assumed the fault to was with them. However, I knew I was going to do a complete audio system anyway, so I bought a new head unit (radio) and 4 new speakers at the same time (from Cructchfield). I installed the new radio first and was blown away with how much of a difference it made and how good it sounded with the factory speakers that I contemplated sending the speakers back. But I needed speakers that could handle a little more volume and I got a great deal on my speakers, so I put them in as well.

I currently have 35 watt RMS Boston Acoustic speakers in my truck with a touchscreen Kenwood DDX319 head unit. I am pleased with the Boston speakers, especially because I paid 50 bucks a pair for them on clearance, when I was going to drop $150 per pair before I took the chance on them. I had higher end 65 watt RMS Alpine speakers in my old truck that were better and handled very high volume without breaking up at all, but they were also much more expensive. I don't plan on adding an amp for the door speakers, so the 35 watt BAs were fine for me. Also, speakers can only produce as much power/volume as they are receiving from the radio and/or amp. You can't go wrong with Boston's if you're after overall sound clarity.

I understand that aftermarket radios aren't visually appealing, that's the biggest drawback for me, but they are usually better. And good quality single din units can be had for around $150 now. If you do want to for sure maintain your factory radio, you can get an integrated audio processor to help improve the quality of the sound, but I have no personal experience with these. Aftermarket radios also (generally) have more powerful internal amplifiers, so they can play music louder and this might be enough for you so that you don't need an amp. I'm young and play my music pretty darn loudly every single time I get in my truck, and I can't justify the price and complications of an amp for the door speakers for the few times I'd like a little more volume. You can always add one later on if you decide you still want one though.

Anything from Crutchfield also comes with very clear, vehicle specific instructions as well as any required wiring adapters and harnesses so that you can install it all yourself. I did all of my audio stuff myself and I'm retarded when it comes to wiring. Their customer service guys and gals will also talk you through everything and help you troubleshoot if you need them to.

Depending on what you end up wanting to buy, and whether or not you plan on installing it yourself of having it installed professionally, Crutchfield may or may not be the best choice. My personal opinion is that any radio over $300 should be purchased through Crutchfield for a DIYer, no exceptions. I had an issue with my radio and they sent me a new one no questions asked, and it arrived in 3 days with postage paid for both ways. The radio is the most important part and the core of your entire audio system, so I like knowing that it is taken care of. However, door speakers (unless expensive) can be purchased from whoever you'd like, same applies to subwoofers. Amps should NOT be purchased from big companies or from major brands. A 4 channel amp from Alpine or Kicker could cost hundreds of dollars ($500), and a small company amp (or even flea market ones) can be had for for 1/3 to 1/5 of the price. Though the big name amps are better, they are NOWHERE near worth the huge gap in price. Some will argue with me on this, but I've heard both flea market amps and very high end ones and there is not much of a difference. The only issue is that cheap amps usually supply less power than is advertised.

What Id do If I had sync

Hey man! I was reading this today and joined just so I could reply to you. ha ha I agree with everything KMAC0694 was saying. I work for crutchfield in the Tech Support department, so if you order anything from us you can give us a call here in tech and we can walk you through it step by step if needed. you can even ask for me! ha You have a couple of awesome things going for you! number 1 it's a ford! number 2 it has sync! number 3, you have 6x8 possibilities. The good thing about 6x8's is if you get a speaker that has good bass response, like down to 40k, you dont really "need" a subwoofer, IF you have them properly powered with an amp. If I was buying something for mine I'd either do kickers or rockford's. they have both been by here in the last couple of weeks and they both have some of the best sounding speakers as far as bass response goes. Like people was saying though I'd save up and replace that factory head if you could. The awesome thing is there is a new interface, (it is a little pricy, like 149.99, but if you buy a radio from us we cut it in half) called a maestro RR it retains sync, allows you to retain factory bluetooth mic (which is better than any aftermarket) and the collest thing is you can splice into your OBD2 connector and get all your vehicle diagnostics on any of the new kenwood radio's. I mean you can get anything! tire pressure, oil temperature, anything that you can get by plugging a computer up to your truck, you can get on the screen of your kenwood. even if you have a check engine light come up, you can forget going to the shop to get the code read, it will tell you on the ken wood. Pretty awesome if you ask me!
