Help Sony System Upgrade for 2013 Raptor
Hi all, I'm planning to upgrade the factory Sony system with Nav on my new 2013 Raptor and just wanted to get some input from others on what you think or any suggestions. Here is my current plan
Speakers:
Front Door - Alpine SPX-17 PRO
Rear Door - Apline SPR-68
Sub - JL Audio Stealthbox
Amps:
Speaker Amp - Apline PDX-F4
Sub Amp - Apline PDX-M6
Random:
Factory Connect - JL Audio CL441dsp CleanSweep
Amp Installation - Rockford Fosgate RFK4D
Capacitor - Rockford Fosgate RFC1D
Circuit Breaker - Stinger SGP901501
Sound Damping - Dynamat Xtreme Mega Pack (10465)
There it is, let me know what you think and if I need anything else for the job. Also if you have any other recommendations I'm all ears. How much Dynamat is needed, the mega pack has 72 sq ft but they also make a pack with half that... Thanks
PS: I found this all at sonicelectronix

Circuit breaker tend to wear out, as in they're cool to have when you just need to kill the power to change out amps and stuff without having to disconnect battery terminals but I wouldn't rely on them to save your amp or truck in case of a short or some other problem. The more they're switched on and off, the less likely they are to pop when you need them too, this of course is talking about cheaper circuit breakers (not all circuit breakers).
I considered using one when I did my last install but I found iffy reviews on them in car audio applications. Enough to scare me away from them, just my two cents.

I am planning to deaden the doors only, maybe the lid if it's easy to get to but probably not. Just want to make the cab as insulated as possible without tearing into too much.
I like using the circuit breaker instead of fuse as it's easier to flip a switch instead of replacing a fuse...
Do you think one capacitor is fine or should I go ith 2?

Cap is worthless regardless. Do the big 3, that should be more than enough.
I also would not do a JL stealth box. For a lot less you can get a shallow 12 or even some 10's under your seat without much effort.
Alpine amps are not bad however you can get a high quality amp with cleaner power for less. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9255-saz...amplifier.aspx.
Sundown is what I used in my truck. I was very happy with them.
As for dynamat, your paying ~310 for 72 sq feet.

This will give you 90 ft2 for 299. Thing to consider is shipping so check it out. I will tell you this is alot higher quality than dynamat is. You are paying alot for the name with dynamat. Hands down performance wise Second Skin beats Dynamat. caraudio.com and mention dynamat, JL Audio, or Capacitors and youll get roasted.
These are all personal references. I used Second SKin and I loved it! I have 3 boxes of Dynamat Xtreme in my room I have never used and I decided to use the second skin.

On DIYMA theres a great writeup on a Raptor Build. Might want to check it out. Went with a PDX-V9 and a Type R shallow 10" under the 40 split in the rear seat.
Also as far as deadener, I'm reaching out a bit since I haven't received it, but I just ordered MurderMat. They have two series available. You should check their site. And I just ordered 80 sq ft for a little over $200. And if you contact them, they'll give you a forum discount. You can use me (Russell McMindes) or Monoxide (Shawn Hilton) as a reference. Shawn is the one who referred me. Might check it out.

i highly recommend murder mat over dynamat as the price is lower and it is a better product. they also have great customer service. I am not affiliated with either company just a consumer and have used both and keep sticking with murder mat for my installs along with every other install i do.
as for running a cap i wouldnt do it. i have had systems with upwards of 15k watts of power and didnt need one. granted on that system i had 2 alts and a few battery's. but do a big 3 and a decent battery under the hood and atleast 2 gauge wire to the amp and you should be good. the battery may not be needed but wouldnt hurt.
i have never ran a circuit breaker in a car before and have heard horror stories of them being on a rough road and tripping. i would just run a inline fuse on the main power wire.
if you choose to go with murder mat or want to check them out the website is
www.murdermat.com you can also find them on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/moremilsforlessbills just tell them shawn hilton sent you and they will hook you up.
