Separates vs full-range speakers

I have been thinking of replacing the stock speakers, but I am a little bit on the fence. Some folks have told me that it makes and incredible difference in the sound, and others that it makes no real noticible difference.

If I were to upgrade my speakers, are separates going to be better? Anyone recommend a pair of separates?

Thumbs up

I've got a set of Cerwin Vega 6" (Vega 2650) mains with separate tweeters, yeah it makes a big difference and you'll love it. The crossovers will fit at the front bottom corner of your door windows and your installer will ask you where you want the tweet's mounted, I've got mine on the dashboard which allows the highs to be reflected off the windshield towards the cab. Killer sound. I go with rounds because round gives a better sound than rectangular. Get a good amp and your ride'll rock.

Danny,
I feel it depends greatly on where you mount the components.
In my Lightning, there was not whole lot of difference between high-end coax.(Polks) and components (Kickers), when I had the components close together.
However, once I moved the tweets up, I had nice mid/high separation.

What about your amp and subs. If you don't add either, I would stick with good coax.
