need help with thunderform sub box 2003 Supercrew
I bought a thunderform sub box that fits my 2003 supercrew this week. It has no driver and I have no amp, and I'm still rocking the stock HU. My only upgrade is four Polk speakers in the doors.
I'm thinking this setup might be simple and sound better than stock:
Rockford Fosgate R2 Ultra Shallow 10-Inch 2 Ohm DVC Subwoofer
Rockford Fosgate PBR300X1 Punch BRT 300 Watt Ultra compact Mono Amplifier
bass blockers for the Polk speakers in the front door.
remove speakers in rear doors
Any opinions on this?

my car audio enthusiast buddy tells me that the rear door speakers ruin the sound stage.
Remove them and the sound is mostly in front of you, like it would be at a concert.
I thought it was a dumb idea at first too.
My friend's car has massive sub in the trunk, no door speakers, and super-high-quality component speakers in the front kicks and A-pillars.
Best stereo I have ever heard.

But you aren't running "super high quality components", I'm assuming your not amping the door speakers, nor are your doors deadened either. So removing the rear's will not have the same effect. Not only that but your in a truck not a car so the sound is different too. Because of the cab design you'll lose a lot of the fill you have from the rear and it'll end up sounding lacking. Also components are designed especially with the way he has them in the kicks to be aimed to create a soundstage also with the tweeters aimed too. You can't aim door speakers so again you'll be losing sound and I think you'll find yourself turning up your radio to a louder volume because it won't be as loud.
Also in a concert hall the sound should be able to be heard the same whether you were a foot from the stage or all the way in the back.
So your buddy is right about creating a sound stage, but isn't giving you the best advice for the parts your working with. There's a lot of info on subject's like this over on diyma if your interested in a good read.
