Putting together system for 2001 supercrew

I am looking at getting this box: http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Sub...super_crew.htm

I like this enclosure because i can easily remove it if I need to fold down my seats. Does anyone have any experience with this enclosure? Also I need help picking out a sub and amp, the box takes a 10 inch. I want one that is going to work good for all around music listening, but I also want it be able to thump when I want it to. Thanks guys

For a sub I am looking at the Alpine Type-S SWS-1043D and the SWS-1023D. What is the difference between the two of these? And will they work in this box? And would mono amp would be the best to power the single 10 inch sub?

The difference in those two alpine subs is the voice coil configuration. One is dual 4 ohm and the other is a dual 2 ohm. And yes a mono amp is most common for subs, but just about any amp will work when set up correctly.

If you only want one sub, I would go with a single 12. Without knowing your budget its hard to pick out a sub and amp.

This box with the added optional mounting depth is what I would get. That way you have more sub options.

Only reason I was looking at the other box is because it is upfiring and that is kinda what I prefer myself. I have alpine Type-S speakers in all of the doors and I was thinking about going with the type-s sub if it works with the box I am looking at. I would like to kepp my sub and amp combo between 500 and 800 bucks. Would you go with the 2ohm or 4ohm? Any amps you would recommend?

If you want to stick with the alpine type s series,

you could do this sub

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...SWS-1023D.html

with this amp

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-MRP-M500.html

wire the sub to 4ohms like the second picture here

What about this sub box? And if I go with a 12 inch Type-S Sub Should I go with the dual 2ohm voice coil one? And woul you recommend using the same amp that was suggested? It appears that it would have plenty of power for it.

Nevermind, was reading the fine details and sub wont fit, the box will only handle 4 1/4 mounting depth.

Well with that 12 inch box you could use this alpine combo,

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...e-SWR-T12.html

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ne-PDX-M6.html

As you can see the shallow sub cost way more and it will need a better amp. With that being said the 12 inch type-r shallow sub will be about twice as loud as the 10 inch type-s.

Well I bought the 10 inch sub box from pickup specialties, so we will see how it fits after I receive it. I figure the 10 inch will be enough for me and what I want out of the system, if its not enough I may upgrade to a 12inch. I originally wanted the alpine type-R 12 inch, but I just can't afford it at this time.

Any other amps you guys would recommend for pushing that 10inch type S sub? I kinda want one that has the bass boost remote ****, so that I can adjust the bass boost while driving. Thanks for all of the help guys.

Be careful with the bass ****, that is the most common way subs are blown.

Also I may amp the speakers in the future, so I should be able to run one power wire back there and install a distribution block? Is the 17ft of wire in most kits enough to reach all the way back there? Also Where and how should the amps mounted? Im thinking behind the seat behind the plastic false wall, but I am not sure how to do it. I have had that plastic panel off and out once before when I sound deadened my back wall and floor. I really do appreciate all the help!

Upfire, downfire, no difference. They are still moving air, lots of it.

The 17 ft. kit is enough. Mount the amps on the back wall, either on a mounting board or directly on the sheet metal.
