Help me to choose speaker 6.5 vs 6X8

Hi Folks! I just ordered Infinity REF6022I 6-1/2" Two-Way Loudspeaker and I just found they don't fit without some trimming in the doors.

I can Order Infinity Reference 6832cf 6 x 8" and they fit.

Is there anyreason to instal the 6 1/2" and trim vs order the 6X8"?

wich sound better?

I'm using the OEM HU with Infinity Kappa Five-Z 5 Channel Class-D Amplifier I plan to add a Sub

6 1/2 will fit with a spacer. Easy to make out of MDF or you can find plastic ones online. No need to trim any metal at all.

Does it fit? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...sche-SA68.html

For the door speaker harnesses do you know if this fit? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...a-72-5600.html

The Metra harness is correct.

While the Scosche will work they look "flimsy".

Take a look at these. A few bucks more but might be worth it. In fact I have a pair in the closet and never used them.

I had to trim a little plastic on the top & bottom in my 2006 F150 to make these MB Quart 6-1/2's fit

Think about this... do home speakers have oval or round speakers in them?

Yep... Round!!!

Oval speakers will never sound as good as a round speaker, its just what the auto industry strated and what marketing schmucks continue to push on the unsuspecting public! Look at any hi end sound system... round is what they use! Any stereo shop that tells you otherwise is flat out lying... or they dont know any better!

TK5:

I loved my MB Quarts... they lasted about 8 years and were a great speaker! Where did you put your tweets and which x-over are you running; standard or comp?

Thanks for your opinion, I don't know if its true or not but it makes sense! I'll buy the other set a round speaker.

I just make a quick Google about oval vs round and more people agree the round are better.

The components are the Discus series model# DSE216 with the simple crossover, the box states that it is the "Installers Version". For an entry level component set, the mids sound smooth and realistic however the tweets are a little bright and sometimes harsh at higher volumes. I am tempted to try the Q series with the compition grade crossovers.
