Good subs?

I had 2 kicker comp 12s and i didnt really like the way they sounded. The base wasnt too tight for them. So im looking to get another pair of 12's but im not sure what to get. the mounting depth cant be over 5 7/8 inches. Anyone have any good ideas on some subs. Thanks!!

I did alot of shopping around and ended up going with the Rockford P3 10 Shallow. I am sure there 12s are just as good if not better. I installed them over a year ago and they are solid. Happy hunting!

I had a bad experience with the p3 shallow(12). They both messed up within a month of having them. I now have a cvt 12 and it is perfectly fine. You also said the bass wasn't tight enough? Well I can tell you that the bass is tighter and more punchy on this cvt than on the p3(before they messed up).

I had some Infinity 10's in my 98 ram X cab under the seat and that thing Jammed! They weren't even the "perfect 10's" that cost more they were Just the regular reference series and I got them from crutchfield when they had a buy one get one, so i got them both for like 80 bucks or something close to that. They are great subs and i plan to use them in the 01 Screw i just picked up. They deliver Nice tight bass. They also make a 12inch in the same reference series.

If your looking for a cheap place to buy subs stay away from crutchfield, everything on their site is way overpriced.

For the most part, a subwoofer will only be as "punchy" and "tight" as the tuning of the headunit and amplifier, and the design of the enclosure. Not often can you hear a great distinction of bass between subwoofers in their respective setups. I've had lots of subwoofers throughout the years and right now I'm rockin the shallow Rockfords, two 12" P3S. I'm not the world's most pleased with them mainly because of cost and I'm not a fan of pressed paper in a flat sub, but in the back seat of my 07 Screw they fit entirely under the seats. The enclosure I built actually has the proper airspace needed to run their best, and down fired, with no seat lift.

All in all, get whatever subwoofer fits your truck and fits your budget. Just make sure you match every aspect of your audio system together.

Also don't forget the enclosure will make or break the sub.

I went with just a single RF PS3 shallow 10 inch sub, with a custom sealed box in my 03' S-cab (not much room, couldn't fit much more in)
(installed early summer '11).
After the initial break in period... (fyi, you can tell the difference afterwards) I think it sounds awesome.
Can only compare from stock -to- 5 channel amplified system, a Huge difference.
My boy sits directly over the sub, he loves it.

I think when it comes down to it, if you do spend the money, you'll get the results you expected.
Although, I kick my self in the ars when I see authorized internet dealers selling my components WAY cheaper during big holiday / sale times.
BE SMART WHEN YOU BUY!
