Component Speaker Install With Pics!

I was searching around for pics before I installed my new speakers but didnt find much out there. So I thought I'd share my experience. (and my pics too) So I got everything off of sonic electronix. Not too bad to deal with although they said the speakers for the rears were back ordered but then found them in another wearhouse so I'm still waiting on them. I decided (after a ton of research) to go with Polk Audio DB6501 comps for the front and Db651's for the rears. Also got 4 wire harnesses and 4 speaker adaptors (which werent that great). The price was fantastic at $210 for everything.

The only complaint I have with the polks is that they didnt come with any screws!?! I thought that was weird. And the instructions are super vague and not that helpfull. The metra wiring harnesses were awesome and made it so I could return to stock some day(when I upgrade to another f150!)

The speaker adaptors were xscorpion uspa-600 6x9 to 6 1/2. Not the best adaptor out there (especially at $2.99 for a pair) but they did the job.

I had to dremmel the crap out of them but they worked out. Thank god that polk gives you an spacer ring that you can use or else they wouldnt have worked.

Side view with spacers:

Thanks to this site I new where to put the crossover too:

Im not good with a dremmel as you can see but the adptors fit pretty good.

Also had to dremmel the panel to make the speaker with the adaptor fit.

Also found a little hole behind the adaptor plate that fit the wires perefectly.

Once the speakers were in I thought they looked pretty good.

Overall I'm happy with them even though i dont have them amped yet. And believe me they need to be amped.....badly! Side by side, beside the stocks, they almost seemed weaker. Now onto the search for a good amp!

Nice write up... I am looking for a good set of componets myself. I have a RF 500.4 and highly recommend it.

Looks great! I have always liked the sound of Polk Audio separates and you will definitely need more power to drive those. I used a razor blade to notch out the plastic to get my 6.5's to fit.

Thanks. And ya an amp is a must with these! I'v been driving around with them and I'm almost getting disapointed. I was going to hold off on the amp but looks like it will be sooner than later!
