Think of how much money Ford could save if they just started using 3 screws in every speaker...

I used to work for a relatively large retailer in the midwest. My first system cost me roughly 1500 bucks, however if you were to walk in off the street and buy it from the same retailer, it would have cost 3500... Mark ups were between 100-150%.. The larger internet retailers don't mark it up as much, because they don't have the overhead.

Good link... I think i'm about to purchase a set for front and back..

Question tho... Do I need a set of "Metra 72-5600" for both front and back or just the fronts?

You will need them for the back too. It can be done without but the wire adapters make it so simple.

I replaced my factory speakers with two set's of Kenwood 6x8's a few weeks ago. I love the improvement in sound quality. My passenger side rear speaker had two door panel screws and two speaker screws installed. Two of the four screws were loose. I only had about 2500 miles on my '11 STX at the time.

I was torn between using the Kenwood KFC-C6893PS and Pioneer TS-A6874R

I'm running my stock Audiophile HU and seems like most of the threads I am reading say to use something with at least 90 dB at 1 watt

The Kenwoods only have 87 and the Pioneer are 90.

Any opinion's on these two..

There won't be much difference in 3dB. Personally I think the Kenwoods are little better quality but running of a stock headunit either should work fine. Pioneer typically has a little better bass and Kenwood has a better midrange and highs IMO.

I confirmed my rear drivers side speakers is blown... idk how though?

Just curious. I am thinking of ordering a set of speakers this summer and a new HU. These kenwoods seem like a good deal. I'll eventually add a sub, but not now. Any recommendations on a Double din CD/DVD/ player? No nav

Thanks.. I'll have to consider which I want more... I listen to rock, country, rap..

If i wanted to use the existing tweeters i have would I need to splice into something.. or should I just forget about them?

Decide what options you want then you can compare. I'd stick with Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer or some other name brand. Many of the double dins have the ability for expansion later.

I'm not sure how the audiophile is set up with the tweeters, it may already be spliced for you. If not you could splice them in as long as the crossover is still connected.

You may not even miss them though once you get new speakers.

Thanks Scott... I've been searching around. What do you think of those speakers with a new HU and then a sub? How do I pick out things that all match properly? I would think like I 10" sub under the rear seat, but I have no idea how to install an amp. I see you have them in your truck

Kenwood's are better than Pioneer's. My Kenwood's are 91 db, 2-55 W RMS, two-way coaxial, KFC-6879ie. I purchased mine new from Amazon. Crutchfield recommend's using 90db or better with factory HU's.
