I just installed two SWR-T12 in my 05 Screw a week ago it sounds amazing with just 300 watts. I have my mrx-m100 1000 watt amp coming today and plan to post a video of them on youtube tonight.

Sub Box

Any advice?
The box i have is made for both the Scab and Screw and they state that the box will stick out from under the seat 3" in the Scab and 1" in the Screw.

I broke down and could not wait for the new BM to arrive so I purchased 2 of these Alpines. I must say these rock!!!! I could not say a bad thing about these subs, Im still breaking them but so far they sound great with every kind of music. A very good choice for someone that wants really good SQ subs that can get loud without distoration. I have mine being pushed by JL Audio HD750 mono amp, it pushes them pretty good!

This is from Alpine-usa.com

"Consistent, Reliable Performance out of the Box"

"There’s no need to play your sub for hours to break it in to achieve consistent performance. This sub is designed to deliver consistent performance right out of the box. Since this revolutionary design is made with an injection mold resin, rather than phenolic stiffened textile, this new spider requires no break in to achieve ideal performance. A Co-Molded Aluminum collar attaches the voice coil to the spider to ensure a reliable, high-strength design."

Couple of questions on the sub and enclosure. Its hard to tell in the video, how far do you think the woofer excursion goes past the outside ring on the speaker? Also how much distance do you have from the ring to your floor? Im building a box for my 10 in type r shallow and right now im looking at .5 in in the rear of the woofer to a full inch in the front, and thats from the outer ring itself. I would like to go a little less if possible to make the interior volume a little bigger. Also is the box 1/2 in or 3/4 mdf?

i haven't seen it come out of the ring myself since mine face down. however i wouldn't feel comfortable going smaller then .5 inch clearance, my box gives me 1.5 -2 inches of clearance to the floor of my truck. i looked and the box is made from 3/4 mdf. on a side note one of mine t12s quit working and started smoking. waiting to see if it was defective.

Shaun, thanks for the advice. I ended up leaving my clearance at 1.5 at the rear and 2 at the front. I may end up shaving the bof down to 1.75 at the front as my seat sits up just a little higher than the other seat with the box under it. I wish I had gone with the 12 but the 10 still sounds great and is worlds beyond the stock crap that was in there. Good luck getting your sub replaced, I know alpine is pretty good about their warranties.

Good to hear, As far as the warranty goes Alpine doesn't warranty their products purchased from non authorized dealers in which i bought from Hooked On Tronics but they warranty it for 1 year as well but will see in a few days how it goes.
