Alpine swr-t12 Shallow Sub.
 

I used to have the regular type r's and they slammed really nice. Anybody tried these? Theres not any good vids on youtube yet. Its a lot cheaper than the JL shallow sub, and I cant seem to buy a SI BM anywhere. Any input from any of you sound experts on these just by looking at the specs? I can't comment on the alpine slims but if they are anywhere near the BM MKIII they would be really good.

The Type R shallows displace just as much as the BM, so output will be nearly the same. Sound quality and low frequency extension should be good too with the neo magnet, although not up to par with the BM due to the BMs superior motor topology and soft parts.

If I was not allowed to use the BMs, I'd use these Alpines as my second choice no doubt.

The Alpines look impressive and will have great SQ and output. Its an underhung design so it should be pretty low distortion.

I too would place it among the best in shallow subs...

I was also looking at these and was wondering if anyone on here has tried them. Seems the 12's should fit under the seat in the available Pre fabed boxes out there?

Since the 10's only need .6cft Ported do y'all think a pair of Ported 10's could be pulled off under a 2005 screw back seat?

I wanted to toss this box out in this thread too since we are talking about this 12" thin type R. Seems like it could be a perfect fit for a prefab??? Says airspace is .68 and alpine says sub displacment is .8 and it needs .60! I would have to ask if theres enough room from the floor to the speaker once its mounted. I sent him a email asking how close the mounting area for the sub is to the floor...and if he knows anyone that has tried the thin 12 R.

SOUNDS NICE! ive been wanted to do this set up for a while and i finally finished a couple weeks ago. with the right tweaking this sub sounds great rap rock hits all the notes clean! :rocker: i recommend u get it. cousin of mine has the new 10" full size type r in his 2010 fx4 and sounds the same just like alpine said the thin would do. although his being two 10s are a bit more punchy but carry the notes the same as my thin. got more pics on my profile.

Thats great looking under there! You built the box? Was that a pioneer 12 slim you had before...sounds much different?

thanx, my friend works at frys and he built the box. and yea my old set up was pioneer's premier ib flat. i needed two different tunes for rock and rap, and even when playing rap it would bottom out on some low notes. nothing compared to alpine's type r thin. alot louder too.

What amp do you have pushing your type R?

Glad to hear some positive comments on the Type-R thin woofer. I was originally wanting a pair of SI BM MKIIIs but since they are unavailable at this time I went ahead and ordered a pair of SWR-T12s. Hopefully I'll get them put in this weekend given that I am able to finish my box. I'm powering the pair with a Rockford Fosgate T1000-1BDCP and installing them in a MDF/fiberglass box under the rear seat.

You can get them much cheaper than what Crutchfield sells them for...... I paid $269.99/each from an authorized retailer with free shipping.

kicker ix1000.1 i got my type r for $250 at a local shop,but you can find them online for around the same price.
