Are you running the SAE on stock electrical?

I was planned to do the big 4 upgrade and I am thinking I might have to do it sooner than later.

Just bought a Sundown SAZ-1000D. Got a pretty good deal. I think it should be more than enough for two MKIIIs at 1ohm.

This SUCKS....I need a table saw!!!

I spent 5 hours and a 4x4 sheet of 3/4 mdf just to made the two end caps and center partition. I haven't even started on the 34 inch lengths. And each one of those have angled cuts the entire 34 inches.

I guess a good nights sleep and I will try again tomorrow morning.

Another another 5 hours I finally got it done. Followed Stormsearchs box dimensions and added my own little touches.

I only have 1 MKIII right now, the other one is being delivered on Tuesday, that is why there are no subs installed yet. I also am waiting for the caulk to completely dry before I put any sub in. I used a generous amount so that may take a while.

I also don't have any 12 gauge speaker wire and the 10 gauge I have doesn't fit the MKIII terminals. I hope the KNU 12 gauge I ordered fits. If not I will trim it a little.

Please forgive the grotesque amount of screws that were used. Due to my inferior woodworking skills I felt I had to compensate with plenty of mechanical fasteners.

Next is to have the box carpeted by a buddy of mine and then I can add polyfill and mount the subs.

When I started this I had high aspirations. I wanted everything to be perfect including evenly spacing all fasteners. I got beaten by my circular saw, two spring clamps, framing square, and miter saw.

Hope the carpet covers all my mistakes.

Here are the finished picks. BTW from my measurements in a 2009 - up supercrew it would not be difficult to get 3 MKIII in there. I got two in just the drivers side back. The short passenger side is not used at all. Box is only 34 1/4 inches long total.

Is there going to be enough room for the subs' excursion?

x2 and also enough airspace? You really need at least .45 cubes per BM with polyfill if you want the flat response and F3 of ~43. Unless you use aperiodic vents, which I wouldn't mess with since there's plenty of room under there.

When I measured internal volume I came up with .55 per side. It pretty much matches Stormsearch's box to a tee. The front of the box is over 8 inches tall. It is deceptive in the pictures.

Is there enough room for the excursion, I don't know yet. Again, I went with the measurements that were provided. I ended up with 1 1/4 inches of clearance. I measured my supercrews box and it was less than an inch. I figure if I need more room I can add a few little furniture feet.

I can't believe what just happened. I am such a tool.

I knew to be careful, especially with the way the trim ring works, but I did it. Drill slipped and BAM right though one of the surrounds. I am normally very even keeled but I really wanted to throw something.

I guess I get to make that dreaded phone call to SI tomorrow.

Gah!! I hate those trim rings. I was SUPER careful with mine. They put those rings on both the BM and the Mag. They look awesome when installed, but man you gotta be careful. Best to have a friend hold the trim up while you carefully drill the speakear down.

Called SI today and talked to Nick, really cool guy, and he recommended to use pure clear silicone and fix the hole. That has now been done and the sub is curing overnight.

On a good note I was able to install the Sundown SAZ-1000D amp. Thank goodness there were no issues with that or I might have blown a gasket.

Oh also, my first box is crap. Doesn't fit right, seat is up over an inch, and the subs are almost touching the carpet. I am going to attempt to make another box and instead of 3/4 mdf I am going to use 5/8 due to the clearance and space issues. I need to get the subs up another 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and no way to do it with 3/4 mdf without taking up the entire back.

Everything is done except carpeting the box.

New Sundown mono amp is in, box built, subs installed, gains set.

All I can say is WOW. This is exactly what I was looking for. I could not be happier.

Clear, deep, and loud.

Thank you mSaLL and Stormsearch for all the help.

I will get pictures up soon. I forgot to take any during the box build.

I also used 5/8" on my box, and it still doesn't fit perfect. I am going to build another with 1/2" MDF using lots of bracing and 5/8" on the mounting panel. I've talk to a guy I know who competes in SQ with the BMs and he used 1/2" on his box so I'm not too worried.

Glad you like the BMs. Quite a difference eh?
