Idea for a sound system

So I was thinking a few months ago about trying to make a cool sound system. What I was thinking was putting a head unit in a tool box in the bed of the truck, then mounting two marine speakers under the tool box and wiring them to the head unit in the tool box. Then I can listen to music while chilling in the bed of my truck or when I am tail gating. What do yall think about that idea for a system?

Sounds like a good idea, but I would use a marine head unit as the tool box might be water tight but probably not moisture tight. Since I see your in Florida, I would think humidity would be your source of moisture.

Sounds like a KA idea, but something I found with putting subs or speakers in places with tight fits is that you need a certain amount of air around it for the speaker to make the right sound and move properly. If ya do it just make sure if you crank it to open your tool box.

I think it's a great idea too! I've been thinking about these for my tailgaiting...

MustnagJonny, those are really tight.
I would probably go with a marine hu cause of the moisture. Newbie, I was looking at some marine speakers that they are already put together in boxes. They sort of look like bigger computer speakers, that way I don't have to worrry about making a box.

Also do yall think it would be a good idea to get another battery and keep it in my tool box and run the hu off that?

Running the second battery is a good idea that way if it does die you will still be able to start the truck, you could also tie into the 7 pin harness to charge it while the truck is running too.

What is the 7 pin harness? I don't know much about doing electronics.
