Smells like a voice coil

Ok so I installed a new clarion deck this week and yesterday I smelt something buring.... well I found it was coming from the passenger side of the truck. Took out the speaker and it smells strong so I am thinking voice coil... but I have a tweeter spliced using a clamp and it doesn't work either.

I got a non brand speaker and hooked it up and still no sound. I hear a faint beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound and it pops when I turn off the truck.

Any ideas on what it could be? I have the polk db651's and rockfort tweets.

I feel confident that I wired them correctly. I will double check this afternoon. They worked fine for a day or two then I had issues.
