Arrow 05 lariat with Kenwood Navi needs speakers

I have an 05 Screw Larry in desperate need of a sound upgrade. I just got the newer Kenwood head unit, DNX-6960 Navi but I haven't put it in yet. I need advice on what to replace my stock speakers with. I was thinking components in the front and a 3-way in the rear - speakers that is.

I will purchase a 4 channel amp too but I'm still looking into which one I want. Anyone put in a component set that rocks? I was reading these forums and someone suggested to put a sub in and leave the stockers for a while. That could be an option I guess if the stock set will maintain integrity along with the sub.

You can follow my path. Get your amp, amp your stocks, get the bass off of them and they will sound decent and get loud to match your subs. At the same time, do you subs. You will get a decent sound that way while you research door speakers. At least your amps will be in place and wires ran. Then when/if you put componets in the front, save money to do sound deadening at the same time.
Just plan ahead with your amps to give yourself plenty of headroom. Doing things in steps is easier on the budget. Figure out what you want to spend then find the best for that amount of money.

In car audio your limits are only bound by your budget and mounting depth.

So your saying I should get 2 amps? 1 for stocks and 1 for the sub?

I prefer to do a subs amp and a speakers amp. Allows for easier upgrades later and easier matching speakers to amps.

Gotcha thanks. How much power can my stockers maintain?? I'll probably get something on the smaller end like a 50x4 or something for the doors. That would be ok right?

I had mine run with an Alpine 200.2 run to mine and ran loud. Doesnt matter what you buy if you can set your gains properly. You could but a 500w amp to them if you keep gains low.

Amping your stockers? Wow...suprised you havent toasted them yet.

OP...whats your price range? Will you be doing the install yourself or having it professionally done?

Nope, never even got to smelling bad. I played em loud also for about 3 yrs. No bass to em they should hold up. They were still screaming when i replaced em with ppi365's.

I'm looking to spend another $300 probably. I'm having everything put in at a reputable pro shop.

UPDATE:
I just bought an Alpine MRP-F300 today off a local kid for a song.
My bro in law has a 10" sub box for under the rear seat of a truck and an 800 watt amp I can have... All I need now is some help in the doors and I'm set. Still open to suggestions.

I went to a local shop on Friday and spent some money. I ended up with Boston Acoustic components in the front and Kenwood Excelon 6x8's in the rear. Paired with my Alpine amp and Kenwood Navi, it sounds great!

I knew it was gonna happen though...
I need more low end so now I just bought a truck box (bro-in laws was a silly Chevy box that won't fit) for under the rear seat. I think I'm gonna get 1 kicker 10 for the box and hit with the 800 watt crap amp I got for free.

I am very happy with setup thus far. Maybe I'll post some pics if anyone wants to see it.
