After Mkt Door Spearkers HELP
After Mkt Door Spearkers HELP
Ok so I really dont kow the 1st or Last thing about audio systems. My 06 Super Crew has the OEM Audiophile system which I noticed today has a special wiring harness attached to each door speaker. Is there an after mkt. harness that I can purchase for each door speaker if I was to add After Mkt. speakers? I get my Shaker 500 tomorrow and will be running it to a Saleen/Rockford 10" setup. Dont know if its gonna work yet but I guess I will find out tomorrow. I asked for info in my last post about the Audiophile to Shaker/Rockford setup but no response.
Thanks

Thanks

I honestly can't tell you if there's a harness to connect aftermarket speakers to the stock wiring, but I know most people cut the harnesses off when going aftermarket. Personally, that's what I did. I figured I would never go back to a stock door speaker again and if I ever got rid of my truck, then the speakers can just go with it (unless I have expensive ones then I get a pair of nice Pioneer 3-ways for $60).
Drifter, take a close look at this pic of the stock audiophile speakers out of my 07

notice the crossover is built onto the backside of the mid and the tweeter plugs in on the side into its own connecter (that one is special) the main harness comes in and plugs into the connecter on the bottom center and that one is a standard ford connecter (metra 72-5600 I believe) so you can replace the stock audiophile speakers with any thing you choose and with the above metra harness adapter it will plug right in with no cutting of your factory wires.

The shaker 500/1000 and the audiophile headunits are the basically same thing. You are actually better off keeping the audiophile HU because the display lights won't dim with the dash lights on the shakers. Also the saleen/rockford sub setup is designed to work with non-audiophile systems.
The regular systems send the full signal to all the speakers and the saleen/rockford sub splices into the speaker leads and uses its own crossover to get the signal needed. On the audiophile/shaker HU's there is a third plug just for the factory sub and there is a crossover built into the headunit so when you splice in the rockford sub you will get almost nothing because the lower freq have already been cut off and are being sent to the factory sub. Now if you splice the rockford into the factory sub wires it will work. If you tie in at the sub end of the wires, the small green wire (about 22 ga) is amp turn on at 5v, the large violet (about 14 ga) is battery + fused at 25 amps, the black 18 ga is ground, the brown 18 ga is rca +, and the red is rca -
