Sub audio upgrade

About to purchase a sub set-up for my truck. Just wanting some input on my decision so far. Looking at:
Dual 10" sub box from supercrewsound
2 MTX TT6510-02 Thunder Thin subs
Kenwood KAC-7204 amp

what do ya think?

Regular cab, ext, or crew?
i haven't heard anything on how slim subs sound compared to full size. i'm anxious to see what you think.
All in all, sounds like a good combo!

If you are going to spend that much money, get a box from here:

http://www.foxacoustics.com

and get two JL W3V3's.

It would actually be cheaper and I guarantee you it would knock the socks off those shallow mount MTX's.

Oh and I would not trust that KAC-7204 to push those two MTX's, and especially not two W3's. I myself have a KAC-9104D, check it out.

screw. i originally was planning on dual 12" kenwoods, but that requires a seat lift, and since i actually use my back seat for people (most of which are taller than 6'), i decided against it.
hopefully these MTXs will sound good though. i thought i would go with a 10" kenwood instead, but a guy at a local audio shop advised me to spend a little more and go with the MTXs. Spacially they works better too.

i had looked at the KAC-9104D, but thought it might produce a little too much power for the MTX? dont wanna blow em.

Step it down to an 8104D, that one puts out 300w RMS at 4 ohm, 500w RMS at 2 ohm. I just bought one from sonic electronics for $135 new.

Will that run 2 subs? I dont know much about audio, so i might just be sounding stupid , but to me it looks like that only runs 1... plus isnt it way above the RMS for the MTXs? Just looking around and trying to understand things myself:

From MTX website-
Impedance: 2 Ω
RMS Power (Watts): 300
Rec. RMS Amplifier Power (Watts): 150 - 300

From Kenwood KAC-8105D website-
1000 Watts of Power with 30% Smaller Chassis Size
CEA Rated: 300W (1.0% THD+N) (4Ohm/1Ch)
CEA Rated: 500W (1.0% THD+N) (2Ohm/1Ch)

Kenwood KAC-7204 specs-
2-channel car amplifier
170 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (250 watts x 2 at 2 ohms)
500 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms (4 ohm stable in bridged mode)

no. i would just like to have a tan carpeted box, so that rules out that fox acoustics one. and ive heard pretty good things about SCS. then with the depth and volume of those boxes, ive just been recommened the MTXs. Plus i found a deal that i really like on them...

Ahh ok, I hear ya. That will look sweet, make sure you post some pics. An a mono amp is designed for subs - you can run 28000 subs off a mono amp if you wanted haha.

A sub only plays one channel, and all you do is run both subs to the same output. A cool think about the mono KAC Kenwood amps is that they do have two outputs, however, so wiring is straight forward. If you have two subs, it will push them seperately just as much as if you had one sub or both subs wired into one output and left the other unhooked.

I'm running my two JLs with this. It would send each of your subs either 300w @ 4 ohms or 350w @ 2 ohms.

so i get the nod of approval from the f150 community? looks like ill move forward with this one then. think thisll make a pretty sweet system for under $600. plus pair this with my new purchase (actually used though) pioneer avid-d3 headunit. gonna be miles better than that completely stock set up i was running less than a month ago...

i had 2 kenwood kfc-w2512 with a kenwood kac-7204 amp that i got for christmas. I had them hooked up well under the rms and last week one of them blew. they sound great for all types of music but did not have that heart stopping beat to them. i just bought 2 new rockford fosgate p1s410. if your looking for something cheap this is it. crutchfield has a sell on rockford fosgate subs buy one get free. bestbuy had them same subs hooked up to the same amp and they hit harder and sound great. if u have no budget i would go with the jl audio w3. hope everthing works out
