subwoofer displacement question
subwoofer displacement question
ok so here it is for all of you tech. guys...If I have one box with a total airspace of lets say...3cu.ft. the subwoofer's manufacture site says that the optimal ported box air space is 3cu ft....If I want to install two of those subs, is that ok that they both share the 3cu ft area? or does it throw off all of the dimensions? I understand the the displacement of the cone will displace the interior area but besides that, is it ok to run 2 subs requiring the same airspace in one box sharing that airspace.....I know..im confusing myself too haha. if you can help, please let me know. thanks everyone!
hold on a sec, would I really need a 6cuft box. remember..it is a ported box. I'm just trying to see why It would need 3cuft PER sub if it is a pretty much open air box...minus sub #2's cone and magnet displacement. If I built the box to using those two subs, and tuned to 33htz (figuring in displacement) Would that box still be tuned in correctly or is it going to throw the sound all off? Is it a REALLY bad idea or will i probably not really notice much of a difference?
