They might come off as a-holes, but they are right.

Wiring an entire sound system and setting it up properly can get complicated, especially for somebody who has never done it or knows nothing about electronics and the way audio equipment works. It can also get dangerous, and become quite expensive if stuff breaks. You are 17, on a budget...tells me you dont have money to pay for a big mistake.

I would take their advice and go to a professional.

You don't learn anything by taking it to someone. You learn by doing. I learn best hands on. Reading helps me get the idea and then doing answers all the questions I need to know.

And yeah they may be right... but there is a right way to say something and a wrong way. Every thread they have posted in is the wrong way. Maybe instead of posting smart remarks they could take a class on ethics or something. It's not hard to be nice.

How did you learn what you know? By asking questions and doing I am sure. Why should he be any different?

Answers were given in the first few responses - OP got lost just reading threads. That right there is a sign to take it somewhere, see how the final product looks, and perhaps improve upon it.

High-horse "I only do things my way/the right way" attitudes in this situation result in a truck burned to the ground.

I'm recommend finding a buddy who's got experience. If they work with black tape find someone else. A good installer will use crimp on splices. A quality installer will use solder and heat shrink.

No need for that. We all come across the wrong way at times - sarcasm is often the first victim of the typed word.
