So the 6 1/2's will mount fine with a bracket right?

Depends. Modifications have to be made to make the 6 1/2's fit.

When I first installed my 6.5"s, it came with a bracket. I didn't need to modify anything. Only after I added the MDF did I need to modify the door panel.

So do you recommend going with the 6.5's and modifying the door or should I just go with a 6X8 or 5x7?

Depends what you are after and how much you are willing to put into it. If its just a simple speaker replacement, a 5x7 would be just fine and a much easier task. If you plan to put in the effort to treat the doors, amplify the speakers and are seeking some serious upfront sound, I definitly recommend going for the round 6.5" speakers.

One of my motto's is "you only get out of it what you put in it." So I don't mind putting some work in it.

I had a complete JBL sysem in my 2001 supercrew with one downfire 10 in a custom center console pushing around 1200 watts to it and it sounded great, had lots of complements on it. Jbl's were at one time a great speaker when they were made in america but I have herd that they are made overseas now and are not all that great. But then again what's not anymore. I was also running the 6.5 GTI's in the kick panels, in my opinion, keep your speakers in your doors and put an amp on them.

So 6.5" components would be the best for the front. Hmmm. I suppose it's good to not be able to buy it all at once, it will make me do good planning.

Looking at these components. Alpine SPS-600C http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPS6...=detailed_info

Looking online for the best price. I could get them all set up in my doors while saving for the next purchase. I'd have to get an amp for these (and use the 5x7 rear fill off the head unit unless I'm advised otherwise) unless I use the power pack to push them all. (45 watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms)

Thoughts??? (I assume the components would need more than 45 watts per)

I'd be able to get all this done faster but my wife has dental work to get done starting tomorrow, I have a daughter in college, and she's engaged to be married with the wedding in 2011. Priorities.

Crutchfield is expensive as heck. Try SonicElectonicx.com
I know it looks ghetto as anything, but they ship fast and have great prices on mainstream stuff.
