Can it be done?

Hey gents new to the site here but have a lot of knowledge on the off road... I am wondering if anyone has attempted to fit a 15" sub in their f150? I have a Screw that I want to put this thing in or its just going to sit here and collect dust. Let me know what you all think...

You won't be able to unless you want a sub sitting on your back seat. There is one guy here that's done it with a single kicker 18" IIRC but that was a long while back.

I honestly wouldn't do 15's or bigger unless my thing was rap and only rap. They sound to loose for my taste.

Anyways check this site out: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137804

Free box plans, just find out the recommended enclosure size for your sub. Then get some MDF and start cutting.

Thanks Impact, I appreciate the info. I am going to brain storm a little and see what I can do with it. I am thinking something in the middle console or something. I have measured and it will not fit but I think I can make a box fit there then just bring out a wider angle from the box to fit the 15.... I will post some pics if I decide to build something and let you all know how it sounds.

What kind of sub is it and what kind of enclosure do you plan to use? Unless you have some high powered 8" midbass drivers to blend them to, a 15 is going to sound horrible in these trucks.

Yeah I dont really know how it will sound to tell you the truth. It will be a 15" JBL powered by a 700 watt JBL amp

he may be able to swing some rear door 6" CDT woofers to fill the mid bass.

if money wasn't tight right now i'd love to try some.

If I were to go 3-way and were to use a 6" I would no doubt go with the Peerless SLS6. SO SO SO clean and the midbass is huge. Not very expensive either. They roll off around 400hz though, so strictly a midbass driver. I would also never put them in the rears doors. Why pull the stage behind you?

Yea it's an unfortunate characerisitc of the monster in a stereo sq setup. My rainbows can lack the punch of a solid midbass driver when it borders on say 70hz and below. Adding a true midbass driver would be great for me. I suppose I could use the qforms kick panels to keep the sound stage up front. But with my 5.1 HU I think the DSP would keep it all in alignment if I used the rear doors instead.

But if I was going straight stereo spl then midbass drivers in the rear doors would be nice.I think the front doors would keep it balanced enough for general rocken.

Yes it can be done! Well sort of. I got my amp wired up and everything and placed the two 15" JBL's right under the back seat without a box and they sound pretty good. Doesn't hit as hard as when they were in the pathfinder but it does the job well.

Not now, I threw them back in the box and lifted the seat up. I didn't like the way it sounded.
