That doesn't mean anything. Do you have an o-scope? It probably has if you've "abused" it for months and months.
If it did, it wasn't audible, that particular series of amps reduces power if it gets hot. It would have to be damn hot to shut down. My MTX amps shut down after 30 minutes of pushing them. Yes, it was all professionally installed. I would buy JL without hesitation. If YOU had a JL Slash Series amp that has shut down I would like to hear about it. But, I am just an enthusiast not a pro.

I know you may think JL is the end all be all to car audio, but even they're amps won't simply "turn down the volume" if they sense clipping, and especially not heat. There is only a protection circut. Those amps, IIRC, do not even have clip LEDs.

I don't have to own each and every brand of amplifier to know how one operates. I have a decent amount of experience with car and home/club-DJ audio. "Professionally installed" can mean bullcrap install. Look around on this site alone for disasters.

I think you took my statement the wrong way. I don't think JL Audio is the best in car audio. That was the last JL equipment I had. I won't be running JL in my truck. He was asking if the stuff is alright so, I gave him some personal experience of almost the same exact stuff. By the JL and MTX being professionally installed by a liscensed dealer, I was angling towards the fact that it wasn't hooked up wrong to cause the MTX amps to clip(Before I learned how to do my own installs.) But, my JL seemed to stay cool and never cut out(meaning I never lost the subs.) For that, I have no idea what I am going to do in my truck, probably nothing mainstream, except for the headunit of course.
