Custom Sub Box!

So I decided a couple weeks ago that I just had to have subs. So I ordered some offline (Kicker Comp C12's) nothing fancy. And I made myself a box to go in the middle of the back seat. Sorry for the lack of pictures while I was putting it together. I did have to end up going with a C10 on the front face because I dont have enough airspace for the 12.

This was the picture I took when I got it all sealed up.

I got the template and cut out the hole for the 12 and wired it all up, and it sounded really good for just one 12. Hella lot'a bass. I powered it with a 150 watt amp that I got on a speaker box for free(its the one in the pics). Here are a couple pics of the box put in.

I am really wanting to cover it with some grey vinyl to match the dash, but I have no idea how to make it seamless.I have a Fosgate B4.750 or something like that I am going to use to power both of the subs. As soon as I get the C10 and get it put in I will post more pictures.

Looks good dude. since you went with both sealed why didnt you combine the two boxes into one and share the airspace? where does the 10 mount on the box?

Can't wait to see it finished... I would put some thin padding under the box where it comes in contact with the seat in order to prevent any wear that might take place... Nice job so far...

Thanks alot guys! The 10 is going to mount on the slanted section right in the middle(on the top) of the box. It looks way bulkier in person than in the pictures, and there is room to mount a 12 on the slanted section but no airspace . What is great is that those pictures are with the front seat all the way back against the box which is actually pretty far back(lots of room).

I sealed both of them just in case I ever happen to blow one of the subs. If the 12 goes out then the other 10 cant push that much air, and vise-versa. I wanted to port the 12, but it sounds pretty darn good for what it is, and why mess with a good thing?

I had thought about putting something on top of the seat, but I dont know what. I dont want anything that will look awkward or noticeable. I was thinking that once I covered the box that it would be okay on the seat but was not sure. The box is pretty heavy though.. I dont think its going anywhere haha.

Gotcha on the both sealed. i like my sealed too and your right it doesnt make sense to mess with a good thing an try to port it. to seal mine i just got some silicon from home depot and ran a nice heavy bead along all the seams on the inside of the box and it works very well

once its covered the seat should be fine but since its going to be sitting there for long periods of time its gonna make indention in it anyway that you cant avoid but no long term damage. you might want to see if an upholstery shop has any input for wrapping it or how much they would charge. with the vinyl you'd probably have to do one piece otherwise it might look bad and i agree with putting some foam on the outside under the vinyl.

Thats exactly what I plan on doing to them. I used a ton of liquid nails on the box for the 12 so I doubt it needs it, but I may put some in there anyways. The box for the 10 needs it because I dont trust those triangular pieces on the side with just liquid nails.

Im banking on the fact that the box is as wide as it is, and the floor takes up alot of the weight that it wont be too bad on my seat. I think I should be okay.
I would not have the slightest clue as to how I would put a single piece of vinyl on that box. I guess I am going to have to find an upholsterer.

Id go ahead and use the silicon just for extra protection and so you dont have to go back and do it later.

^x2 you wouldn't want to take it all apart just to put in some silicon.

Speaking of subs, my 15" RF Punch 1 blew up today no more big bass for me until I build my next system....

Awww dude that sucks. . Go to high-fisoundconnection and get another one. They have refurbished ones for REALLY cheap, and they have warranties.

I am going to line both of them with some silicone. I still dont have the C10 yet though. I got my pre-wired LED's in today though so I am going to have really bright blue lights everywhere

can you still use the console fold up and down? what about once you have another 3/4 tall sub face in the space?

looks good, I dont see why more people dont just remove the middle seat instead of trying to build around it :o

Where are you going to put the led's at? im thinking about getting another set for the under the back of the front seats

Patman the reason that i went around the seat was i didnt want to hassle with splitting the passenger rear seat and its removable incase i need to to have room for 6

I built my box strong enough that someone can sit on it if absolutely needed
