sound on a budget
I love this site! Everyone has always been so helpful here! I installed 4 Infinity Kappas front and rear in my 06' SCREW with a pioneer f700bt deck last year. I have in my closet a JL W6 sub in a pro wedge sealed box with a fosgate 160x2 punch amp in my closet collecting dust. I have seen some single enclosure 10" under rear seat boxes on ebay from $60 to $250. I know I have to find some sort of enclosure but I would like to keep the W6. Should I use the fosgate amp to run the door speakers and run a seperate amp for the sub? Or should I scrap the amp I have and get a 4 channel 1500w amp (if I can find one) and possibly bridge the new amp to run the sub and the door speakers, I am a NEWBIE when it comes to car stereo and will have a new baby in a month and am trying to get good sound on a budget while trying to use what I already have, any suggestions?
I've skipped putting an amp in for the doors, and I am just running the doors off the HU. It seems to push everything OK. I concentrated on putting an amp in for the sub. My car has amps for both, so I've gone both ways.
You might not need to bridge the amps. My pioneer deck (along with many other decks) have dedicated output for the sub. I'd rather run the sub as a separate channel off the HU than bridge it. The benefit is that the HU usually has a setting to switch off the sub if you need to.
I can't help on the box. I have a standard cab (*gasp!*). I was able to fit a standard wedge box behind the armrest for my 10" MOMO sub. Except for the HU, and a pair of Alpine 5x7's, everything else I've put in is recycled from other builds.

So if I fab my own box should i add a port or seal the w6? I think I will just build my own box and try to run that sub off my fosgate. If it sounds bad then I will just get another amp. That would be the cheapest for now!
