Post What is best for stock replacements?

All right. I just traded in my 'stang with the Mach 460. Now I have a truck (Lightning) with a stock system which is pretty weak. What speakers should I use to replace stock ones that will have the best sound using the factory radio?

I am going to suggest the Pioneer TSA6895 for the front and a nice Pioneer 2 way in the rear. The TSA6895's are compression horns which will give you nice highs and the horns are rotatable so you can adjust the "imaging" so you do not sacrafice your highs. They are direct replace sizes (6x8) and install great. I am very bias about Pioneer(they pay my bills), but they do sound great. There are several companies to chose from, I would suggest hearing the ones that you do consider and keep in mind that speakers will not sound the same in the soundroom as they will in your truck. Try and find someone with an F150 that has upgraded the speakers already and listen to them. These are just my thoughts on the matter.

Put in an efficent set of components in the front. (Get the tweeter out from behind the grill and up where you can hear it.)
Leave the rears alone (Fill only, you're wasting your time on good speakers unless you put in components and mount the tweeter high) Many people have reported running the stockers fine even w/aftermarket HUs.
Get a good aftermarket Head Unit for more power. Many people have been very happy with keeping the stock speakers and upgrading the HU.
If you want bass, add powered Thunderform or Bazooka.
If you really want to move up and rock, add a 4ch amp, components in the rear, sub amp, and custom box with 2 12s.
