sub options
I started this topic on the speaker board. I have a 2001 XLT reg. cab 4X4 with the Premium AM/FM/Cassette/CD changer. It is supposed to have "amplified" speakers. Personally, I think they need some help. Has anyone tried putting the 8" subs in the cab corners? Hooking an amp to the stock head unit? How about the MTX amplified Thunderforms? Thanks for any and all assistance.

A suggestion for an amp is the MTX Thunder series. These amps accept speaker-level inputs, so you could use one with your factory head unit. I just purchased a Thunder 250D to power a sub, and it is very powerful in a small package (although I am feeding the signal from an aftermarket head unit via rca's).
I'd advise against the MTX thunderform. Go for 10" woofers. I has a Thunderform in my 98 truck, and it wasn't really that loud. I bought the Thunderform and an MTX amp for around $550, and I was not too impressed. Look at the boxes on www.subbox.net for F150 boxes, or try and make your own 10" box. I almost bought the kit to raise the back seat and just build a rectangular box for 10" woofers.
