Set-ups of Separates
I'll be replacing my headunit later this month so I've started to hink about speakers.
I have the mtx thunderform sub box (which I love dearly) providing power to the low bass frequencies. The subs really give me the tight and low bass I was looking for, however, I still want more "tight" bass drum hits, etc. Mostly I listen to rock, alter. etc., hence my desire.
Here's my question/dillema. I've been looking at separates for the fronts as, after spending much time at circut city and local shops, decided that was the best sounding to me. Problem was, whatever set up I listened to (polk, Boston, Pioneer, Rockford), still didn't give me that tightness with the 6" or 5.5" midbass.
What I'd like to see for my separate set-up is a strong Bass speaker in the door and possibly something like a 4" 2-way up top. That way I'd have all my "basses" (excuse the pun) covered.
Anyone know of anything that would fit/work with this idea?
Also, I figured I'd put Some 2,3-way coax in the rear, to get the "filler".
Thanks everyone
BJ

2000 4.2 Supercab XLT
What I've done: K&N filter, Magna flow custom exaust (From where cat's join, 3"in, two 2.5" out the rear), Michelin LTX M/S 265/75/16's, MTX Thunderform custom box with two 6000 series 8" subwoofers and Mtx 120 amp.
Plans: Lund hood deflector, superchip, Poweraid, Xenon sport Flares, (custom ram-air idea?)

you will get no bass from a 4" speaker and chances are a deck will blow it up any how. if you want tight bass go with a 6" in the doors and get some kickpanals made up or order from QLogic they have premade kicks for f-150's and they look great. Best set up is 6" in doors and 51/4 in kicks and a 1" tweeter also in kicks. It will make a world of difference if you have enough power to run them properly. I highly recomend MB Quarts.
