Front door replacement speaker help .....

I'm going to have the door panels off this weekend and want to replace the front door speakers...what size are they and what brand would be decent but not too expensive...thanks for any suggestions. The truck is a 2001 supercab.

5x7 6x8 /// The speakers will say fits 5x7 or 6x8 on the box ... right now I have go sony in the front door but they are only rated at 40 watts nom... Check out Kickers .. I just ordered some .... Or you could always do the infinity combo component.. Best Buy.. Or heck any thing is better than whats up front... I would at least get 3 way so you can get good mids and highs..

alpine is pretty good all around.....im gonna be putting the type r's in my truck.....infinitys tend to get a little too bright for my liking but they are a good cheap choice.....jl has some cheap speakers too and those are sweet

I hate to take over your thread, but what would you recommend for rear replacements as well - I was leaning towards Infinity - as far as I can tell it is pretty good bang for your buck. I have an '02 Screw

in my supercab im running alpine type r in front and type s in back. only reason is when my dad drove the truck he blew a front speaker and replaced them with the alpines but bestbuy wanted like 300 to install rears since its a 3 door. when i got it i moved the type s in the back and replaced them with the type r's and im very happy with them

Be careful with the model of infinity you buy, I got some that are 2 ohm rated and draw too much current from the head unit (even though there's a 4 Ohm check on the box). It'll all work out because I'm doing amps in the future, just a pain in the mean time.

I can also recommend jbls and kenwoods, which I pounded on for 10 years and 8 years respectively and put up with all of it. I know it's not high end stuff, but serviceable and cost/benefit ratio is good or at least back in the day it was.

I really don't know why 5x7/6x8 turned out to be the defacto size, there's room for *much* bigger speakers in the f150 & even my mustang.

Cost and universality, a lot of smaller vehicles can't fit a 6.5" round so the manufacturers just buy a billion 5x7 and stick them in everything

Crutchfield is having a clearance sale on a couple of popular, well-reviewed, budget Infinitys. 6820cf and 6822cf.

Just installed these in my 07 screw this afternoon and I'm completely satisfied for the price.

Check 'em out.
