Amps, Ohms, and Subs...Lookin to Upgrade :)

I think this question is going to involve someone with a bit more knowledge than me when it comes to this stuff and hopefully someone who has it will wander into this thread

Right now I have a JL10w1 4 ohm in a sealed box under the rear driver seat powered by a Kicker ZX300.1 amp. This amp produces 150w RMS at 4 ohm.

I want a better sub, but wnat to stick with one 10 for aesthetics and function purpose and not move the jack or anything around.

I'm looking at a Kicker CVT10 2 ohm sub that will fit into my current box and work just fine. It's power requirements are 400watts RMS and 800 peak. The amp currently in the truck will do 300w RMS at 2ohm.

So would a 4ohm sub at 150w or a 2ohm sub at 300rms sound better?

Lastly, i have the chance to pick up a set of Cadence amps. The sub amp is 500w RMS at 2ohms. I take it this would be too much for the Kicker sub right?

I apologize for all the questions but I'm lost. I guess I can summarize it here

Which option would you take?

1. JL10w1 @ 4ohm 150w RMS on Kicker amp
2. Kicker CVT10 @ 2ohm 300w RMS on Kicker amp
3. Kicker CVT10 @ 2ohm 500w RMS on Cadence amp

Again keep in mind the Kicker sub RMS is 400max.

Thanks!

The difference between those subwoofers is not worth the money you are going to pay. In the same sealed airspace, those subwoofers aren't going to sound a whole lot different.

Good to know.

Would I notice a difference if I got a box that has 1 12" Kicker CVT 2ohm in it? I found out the company who sold me the other box also makes the 12" as well with no seat lift required.

Thoughts?

12" vs 10" isn't a huge difference. If you are set that you are going to get a new amp, maybe try getting the amp first, and dialing it in on the current sub before you bail on the current setup. It may surprise you. I'm running a single Polk 10" momo with a fairly unimpressive Profile 2x500W amp, and once I got the system set right I can actually feel the thumps in my chest. I have dual 10" Kickers in my car running off a Kicker 1x600W amp, and it doesn't hit as hard.
