Post Polk EX's

Any opinions on the Polk EX Series Component speakers? I think I am going to get a pair for the front of my regular cab.

Thumbs up

I heard them in a stereo shop, thought they sounded very nice. But then I heard the Memphis MultiSync AR-MS6.75 and that's what I put in my truck. The Polks are very nice speakers, I had their 5x7's in my last truck and liked them too. The components do sound much better than the 5x7 though. Are you also gonna put in a sub behind the seat??? And some kind of amp to power those Polks??

Hey Tina

I put in a Sony CDX-C5000X head unit. It's amp is 50x4, so I think that will suffice.

But yes, I am planning on putting a sub in soon. Was looking at the MTX Thunderforms.

Sheldon:

Polk DX7's are awesome. Put some in all four corners.
MTX Thunderform is certainly the way to go also.

I like your style....

Tampa,

Just ordered the same Polk DX7's for my red baby too. How did the install go? Anything special of note or is it straightforward? Did you use any dynamat or some such product?

Thanks,

Steve F.

TBLightning is right, I put some dX7's in mine, and put Dynomat over the entire inside door. Dynomat is a must. I installed the speakers without it first, just to hear the difference, and the difference is night and day. You will have terrible bass if you don't put it in. I used the Super Dynomat 3 foot sheets (one for each door) and instead of taking the plastic sheeting out, I just cut the Dynomat to fit and pasted it over the plastic. I've seen pictures from guys that only use a small portion by the speaker opening, and I can't see how this would make any difference. You must get it over as many holes and nooks as possible to create a tight seal. Heck, if you put Dynomat in and just re-installed your factory speakers, it would sound like you spent $200 on a really good pair. Love the dX7's
