2005 FX4 Sound question.

So before i bought my truck i had a good sounding set up in my car, Although when i sold my car i yanked out all my sound equipment and stashed it away for another day.. well that day is nearing soon and I like to get my sound back.. Although im kinda unsure of what the Truck side has. First off i've got my Single 12" which is all i would like to do is take that sub out of the box that it's in and slap it in a new single box and slap under the rear seat. along with the Amp. Now my questions are.. Can you use the stock head unit or should i buy an aftermarket one? If i use the stock one can i hook up a sub to it that has an amp behind it? How much sound can the stocks handle before they take a crap on me? How hard is it to take the Head unit out? Also is the box they show in other threads for the supercrew cab.. will those fit in an extend cab? Does Any one sell solo box's or are they all two sub Bs?

Thanks
-Cooper

Yeah this may or may not be doable. The mounting depth is the limiting factor for under rear seat boxes. Around 5" is the maximum depth from the various boxes I have seen. First check to see if you current sub could even be used.

Then decide if you want a line-out converter to run a stock headunit with an amp and sub. (not my recommendation). If you don;t want to run this, an aftermarket headunit is in order.

I dropped my single 12 from my last 2 trucks and went to dual 10s and am very happy, actually happier, lol.

The boxes design for scab and screws are the same size except the scab box might stick an inch further form what I read and talk to box builders about. (not an issue really).

So the question is, what is your budget and what do you want and what do you currently have for parts?

or you could get a seat lift and fit that single 12 under the seat possibly if you dont wanna drop anymore money for new subs and what not
