Recommend me a good mid-priced component set.

I'm thinking that I'll go ahead and install a set of components in my front doors when I do my upgrades. Thinking 6.5" set, with the mid in the factory location and the tweeters installed in the sail panel area of my 09. That means the tweeters need to be relatively small and not emblazoned with a huge logo. I've been looking at the likes of the Rockford P1652-S, Polk DB6501, and Alpine SPS-300C. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone local who actually has any them in stock AND on display for listening. Heck, the one local CA place I stopped at today didn't have ANY components on display.

Hoping to stay < $200. The ones I mentioned are $100-$200 depending on source.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Phoenix Gold RSD components and they're only $70 from eBay. (Mine will be here Thursday, I'll let ya know. lol)

I have found them to be hard to find online...if not impossible. Gotta try to find a dealer local or DIYMA.

What's funny about the Phoenix Gold components is, the set you mentioned went on sale last week for 39.00. I saw one guy say he bought like 30 sets in one order. Lots of folks bought multiple sets and eventhough I have brand new components for my doors, I thought about buying a set for my kick panels. I bookmarked the link last week and can you believe, they're out?

Arg...Phoenix Gold's web site sucks--no detailed dimensions or mounting details on their tweeters? Also can't find a local Hertz dealer (they don't have a dealer locator on their web site.)

Leaning towards something I can get from Crutchfield because I know they'll take them back if I hate them.

Those PGs are a huge forum boner over at CA.com. IMO the tweeter is garbage, the mid is decent. With a good amount of EQ you can get them to sound satisfying.

Entry level passive sets I like for the money are Polk Momo, ID CTX, Cadence CWM6, Alpine Type Arggg.

I ended up buying a set of slightly used Polk DB6501's for $70, so I figure I can't go too wrong there. Worse case (assuming that they really are like new, but I paid with Paypal so I have some recourse) if I don't like them I can probably get most or all of my money back out of them
