Question Fosgate or ALpine Amp???

Ok...so I am re-doing my audio.

I am going to put either 2 Punch Stage 3 Shallow 12's or Punch Stage 3 Shallow 10's in a custom box being made under my seat in the 08 FX4 SCREW.

My question is I have a chance to get a deal on all of this stuff but there are 2 amps to pick from, dont ask why its complicated.

The 1st amp is this..
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500PDX1...00.html?tp=115

and the second is this..
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_5751500...bd.html?tp=115

I am getting conflicting reports on the 2 amps. I am leaning away from the Alpine as I hear it gets real hot but need some advice from you audio monsters.

Thanx

personally I like to match subs and amps just cause they are bound to work together. If you do a Fosgate setup stick to Fosgate just in case anything happens Fosgate can't say your using a different amp so go screw yourself. Now using Fosgate products is a whole new topic.

Overpriced or not as quality as others like JL?

I owed a couple of Fosgates back in the day but they seem to have taken a turn like Bose these days, it's all bark and not enough bite as others. Never used a JL but they are pretty expensive so for those prices they better be good! I'm Kicker biased and have owed 5 of their amps now in 3 different setups, under the seats, mounted on top of a box, and behind the rear seat on the wall. Never had any overheating issues and when you get their amps there's way more wattage than what they advertise them as. I go with what I know and Kicker has never let me down once. I wouldn't mind using a JL though but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

The problem with Bose is everyone gets sucked into their marketing scheme. Don't get me wrong Bose is a decent product, but it falls into the way overpriced category.

i have used jl amps for 6 yrs now, i have kept with em no prollems, i just put 2 in my 07 f150, they are expensive, thay are worth it if u want a hassle free amp, puts out tru watts at all ohms, slash series mono, efficient, doesnt cut out unless voltage drops below 10volts, u only need a mainline fuse, dont need em at amps, also u can tune any speaker to exactly the sound u want.

Kicker amps are decent.... but past the wiring and the amps and some componants that is where the compliments for kicker stop

x 2 Absofrickenlutely

Between the 2 amps (which are both good) I'd run that RF for sure, although there are a lot of things out there that will absolutely kill those subs for a lot less $$$.

Well, I have a Kicker 400.1 that has Power (watts) Mono 400 @ 2 Ohms that was powering my one DC soundlab sub in an elcheapo box. The audio shop has real box one for 2 10's and one for 1 10.

HE thinks I will be happy with the one ten so going to see if my kicker amp will be ok for the one Punch P3S 300rms/600 MAX.

If not I will get either the T500 Rockford 400W x 1 @ 2-Ohms RMS

or

Alpine PDX 600.1 Per channel into 2 Ohms: (@ 14.4V Ƈ%THD+N, 20Hz - 200Hz) 600W x 1

Do you think the T500 Rockford will be enough for the P3S or is the Alpine more realistic? I dont want to starve the Sub for power and would rather overpower it right?

first off those amps have way too much power for those subs, but if money isnt an issue then go for it. i dont have any input for the alpine because ive never used there amps. however i have owned 2 rockford amps and have been pleased with both of them. i had a t5001bd for a couple years with no problems, and now i have a t20001bd. i dont use it anymore because i bought a bigger amp but out of all the amps ive owned (kicker, sony, orion, tma, fusion) it has the best quality. im not too fond of there subs anymore though because i had some t1 12's that i never could get to sound right and my friend had the p3 shallow mount 10's that sounded like crap. his problem may have been with the box but i tried everything with mine and never was happy.

The Alpine and the Fosgate both are too much?? I was worried not enough...

But that is why I am asking....

I had a guy try and have me get the T1000 amp if I was going with 2 P3S's. THAT really seemed like overkill, but what do I know.

I really dont mind having to but the alpine or the Fosgate amp cause they will be dirt cheap. So they are both overpowered for the 10"?

the 10's are 300 rms and the 12's are 400 rms. if you go with 4 ohm subs then you can wire them up to run at 1 ohm and that rockford amp will put out a true 1500 watts. im not an expert but i think a 500 watt amp would handle those subs just fine. but if you are like me and always want it louder then get a big amp and if you arent happy with the subs you can get some better ones and not have to worry about getting another amp. if you decide to go with just one sub and use the kicker amp then you will need a dual 4 ohm sub in order to wire it up at 2 ohm to keep the amp stable.
