I know the v3 is taller than the v2. I think the cone is differently shaped too. The v3 also handles a little more power.

I went to Cartoys today and bought a JL Audio 10" W3v2 for 80 bucks (those are on clearance now), the specs on it say for a ported box 1-1.5 cu. ft., so I will give this a try in my box now and see how it sounds, and if its bad I will just build a custom box and be done with it.

One more question for you guys, the crossover on the amp i have now isn't working so I need a new amp, I was looking at the JL Audio 250/1v2 amp, what do you guys think, will that be enough power for 1 10" W3?

Or would you guys go JL Audio 300/2v2 for the amp?

call jl and see what they think. with the 300/2, wire the sub in parallel,=2 ohm load, and bridge at amp.. 250/1 would be only 25watts less per coil, more efficient, wire it the same so ur at 2ohms, just not bridged at amp, mono, cant anyway, so ur making it basically one coil. prolly price or preference, mono amp would be better, 50 watts not noticeable.

Short of making one yourself out of fiberglass is about as custom as it's going to get. Sounds like a long term solution to me.
