Stock speaker wire question,HELP!!!!!
Stock speaker wire question,HELP!!!!!
I have a Eclipse in dash nav/head unit and finally got around to changing my stock speakers with some Infinity speakers. No amp, just a simple swap.I am pretty dissapointed in the sound quality,I think I hooked them up wrong.I noticed on the new speakers a + and a - side, ive never installed speakers before,on the stock speakers I did not see a + or - side so I just clipped the wires and installed them to any side, could this be my problem? My real question is,how can I tell the + from the - on the stock speaker wire, they are color coded but im lost, please help, thanks in advance!!!

Lesson #1 Do a search before you post.

Lesson #2 Never cut off a vehicle harness of any kind

Lesson #3 Before you jump off the diving board make sure there is water in the pool.......
Tons of stereo shops sell interface harnesses for connecting to aftermarket speakers. Next time try crutchfield.com They are like 12 bucks each... takes the guesswork out of it all together. By hooking the speaker up backwards you are putting the speaker out of phase. This is not as horrible as switching the + and - battery leads....but anyway.. Need to make sure before you hook up in the dark. Okay...lesson is over now for the information that I am guessing you need.
LF Speaker (+) ORANGE/LIGHT GREEN
LF Speaker (-) LIGHT BLUE/WHITE
RF Speaker (+) WHITE/LIGHT GREEN
RF Speaker (-) DARK GREEN/ORANGE
LR Speaker (+) GRAY/LIGHT BLUE
LR Speaker (-) TAN/YELLOW
RR Speaker (+) ORANGE/RED
RR Speaker (-) BROWN/PINK
Make sure after you hook your speaker up that you secure the wire a firmly to the front of the door panel as possible as to not interfere with the window.
(That last part is speaking from experience)
