My head unit is Pioneer AVIC-F700BT. I have another 1000ish to spend on amp/s, front componets and some cheap rear fill. Any sugestions to complement those partiular sub?

Get a fatty 4 channel, run your components off the front 2 channels and bridge the back 2 to power the IDQ. With 1000 bucks, you can get a SOLID 4 channel and some very nice components.

Forget rear fill. Unless you REALLY want it, then just run something cheap off the HU.

Forgot to add this is going in an 04 SCab. I listen to everything, but mostly rap and rock. I hope the ID will give me enough clean bass over the stock audiophile system.

Sounds killer man. You'll have a killer set up with that.

Dont forget to budget for wiring and possibly some deadening

That's fine and it should sound good, but you can do better, especially on those amps...

Cadence iA7 and iA2 for $570 shipped with a 5 year warranty. VERY solid amps that have great SQ and are underrated as well...

I run Cadence iA series amplifiers in my truck. Very nice amps. However, the Zapco DCs are just as capable power wise and also have the processing ability for an active front stage.

How about this:

Fronts-Zapco DC350.2
Subs-Cadence ZRS-3002 - Cadence 1200

Explain "active" front stage with the digital processing over a regular signal please..

Wow, you went from Cadance iA's to Zapco reference DC? Why not just go to Arc SE's or Audison ZRX too...lol Those amps are NOT in the same category and I was trying to stay within a budget for someone who was going to dump $900 on some Diamond Audios.

As far as active, who's gonna tune it, the OP? Active x-overs are nice, but they are work and they are in a CONSTANT state of tune, there's a reason why 90% of normal people run a quality passive x-over, cuz they work and work well. Active takes a good ear, and I don't mean great hearing...lol

My bad, i am getting threads mixed up. I thought this was the guy who was set on a Zapco DC for his front stage and you were saying to go with iA amps. I would def take the iAs over the diamonds.

Passive x-overs do work well, but are not designed for the environment they are typically put in. but yes that is beyond most people.

In simple terms, when you hear music, it is in "full range" meaning it includes all of the frequencies generated by the musicians and instruments. Well, within the structure of a speaker system, those frequencies need to be divided up and sent to the appropriate speaker designed to reproduce that frequency range, for instance if it is bass below 100hz, then it is sent to the subwoofer, over 100hz it is sent to the midbass/midrange etc etc. A passive crossover takes a + and - from 1 channel of the amp and distributes the sounds through a series of capacitors to the proper speakers, usually 2 or 3 depending on the set. So it takes a single signal and divides it up sending some to the midrange and some to the tweeter and determines the dividing point (crossover point) based on the characteristics of that speaker as designed.

Active crossovers are powered crossover networks with frequency filters and have gains built in (volume). They are speaker specific meaning they take 1 channel from the amp and send it a user requested frequency to 1 speaker, either a tweeter, a midrange, midbass, or a subwoofer. So for as many speakers as you plan on running, you need that many amplifier channels, again because every speaker will have it's own channel. If you run a 2-way set (midrange/tweeter) then you need 4 channels of power. Setting crossovers is not just a set it and forget it type ordeal as frequency response, range and gain (volume) are all adjusted. If you don't recognize things like Fs, F3, Qts, etc then tuning it correctly will be someone elses duty as these parameters vary from speaker to speaker, even if they're of the same size from the same manufacturer.

I've had both and they both have their pros and cons. Again, for 90% of the people, a solid passive crossover network will make "beautiful music"...lol
