Sub box port?

I run two 12's sealed with poly fill. country, rock, sound better sealed if you want **** off the neighbors boom the go ported but you will handle less power and risk port farting. my two 12's do both very well and no farting. just shake the kidneys and mirrors alot. alot depends if you want sound for you or sound for everyone else. I used to do comp car audio and sealed won me more than one comp. figure out the factory spec's or measure inside dimensions and divide by 1728 to get qft. 40 to 50 HZ is a lot better tuning freq. more music has that than 33 HZ. also remember that sealed will save you some room because ported is always bigger. run the sub parallel and the amp should see 2 ohm's ruffly. also make sure you power wire is at least 2 awg and ground the same but no longer than 18 inches. good luck
Not true, if anything it will be able to handle more power.

Sub bass is usually in the 30-80hz range. Tuning a ported enclosure low in the frequency range doesn't mean it is only going to play low, but instead it plays a much flatter response through the frequency range. Tuning it higher is going to shorten the response curve and make it very peaky just above the tuned frequency and make is "one hit wonder" when it comes to bass reproduction.
It's almost like the dyno curve of a 300hp V8 and 300hp 4cyl. One has a very wide and flat response as it makes power early and all the way through, while the other is lacking up until it hits it's "sweet spot" and then it all comes at once. That's why SPL guys tune higher, they are measured by reproducing ONE frequency and seeing how loud they can be, their "sweet spot", but you can imagine how it wouldn't sound very well with music.
