Hooking up Components

I am getting ready to put in my TMA 5.25" components and I have never used or set up components before so pardon me for a stupid question. Inside the crossover there is a slide switch that is marked with +3 , 0 , -3 positions. There are no instructions in the box so what are these positions? Where should they be set? They are currently at +3.

Those are probably the tweeter settings. Play with them and see which one you like.

Basically. More or less sharpens or softens them. If you think they're too harsh or don't sound right still you can reverse the polarity to get a flatter and smoother tone.
