Amp + front component speaker question
Amp + front component speaker question
I've gotten a few system upgrades and am now trying to decide on the right amp. Was hoping some of the knowledgable folks here on the forum could give me their advice on a good two channel amp. I have so far:
2007 F150 Supercab
factory HU
Rockford Fosgate (Saleen) single 10" 150 watt powered sub enclosre
Infinity component front speakers 6820cs 2-90 watts RMS (2 ohms)
planning on running rear stock speakers off HU power or just disconnecting.
I have an Alpine MRP F-450 Amp (70 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (100 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms) I was originally planning on using this amp for the front components and the Sub but since getting the powered sub I will not need this for the sub. I've thought of using this amp for only the front 2 components and just not using the other 2 channels but thought I'd instead get a smaller 2 channel amp that will be more compact easier to mount somewhere. I was looking at the Alpine MRP T-220 (2 x 70W RMS @ 2 ohms) (2 x 50W RMS @ 4ohms)
My question is would the Alpine MRP T-220 be a good match for the infinity 6820cs front speakers? Those speakers are rated at 2 ohms, does this mean I can expect 70 watts of 2ohm power from the amp which is a little short of their max but close. Since this amp rates its power in 4ohm and 2 ohms does that mean it's stable in 2 ohms?
Any other suggestions are welcome, I know the powered sub is probably not the best nor using the factory HU but I'm really just looking to make a few upgrades without tearing up the interior of the vehicle too much.

I used an Alpine T220 on my JL XR Components in my Ford Ranger I just sold. It sounded great. I plan on using that amp and components in my new F150 as soon as the weather warms up some. I am a wimp and am not gonna put it in in this cold.
If the tax return is better than expected I am tempted to get a JL 300/2 to replace it. I know its overkill and expensive, but it really tickles my pickle. Then a JL 1000/1 and a pair of 10W3's ..... oh baby. I am dreaming .....
