@ the OP - You can find great deals on 10's or even a single 10 ported that would sound great. However, matching your equipment and tuning is the most important aspect of installation. Someone mentioned install > equipment and they are 100% correct.

You could have 2 $$$12's and someone with low budget 10's could blow you away. My opinion is to buy the best you can (I would recommend shallow 10's) and save a little to have a professional install and tune your system.
Ah thanks man, but what's your honest opinion on a professional install, over just a regular install?

Seriously, there's more to a "professional" install than I could ever clue you in on. That's becasue I don't know. I do know this - you could spend forever trying to make you truck sound perfect. Your truck is only going to sound so good... Are you playing CD's or mp3's? What do you want out of the system?

A professional has equipment and would be able to tune your system to the best it can be vs. you trying to tune something and not knowing where to start. The more I have been learning about audio, the more my head hurts. you have to settle for something and my point was that you can tune cheap crap to the best of it's ability or own expensive crap that you throw together and sounds like it.

I appreciate it man, I really do. How much do you think a place would charge to completely wire up a system? Like 100 dollars?

Aw hell, I guess you could. After all, you are in Alabama!

If you have everything you need and all they have to do is run the wires and setup the audio, you are probably looking at 2-3 hours of labor.

That month was for stage 1: deadening, wires, passive components, 2 amps, 2 10" subs.

No, I am not done. I'm on stage 2: MORE deadening, Deep cycle/big 4, 3 amps, active separates, 2 12" subs. Give me at least another month.

Whats scary is I'm already kinda planning stage 3...which is going to be pretty ridonc. I need a lot of money though...meaning end of summer-ish. :o

bigdog - I'm just throwing this out because I'm in sort of the same situation as you are. I want to mount a decent sub, but I don't really want to install a seat lift.

I've been looking at the Dayton Audio HO 10" subs. I emailed Parts Express tech support and they verified that they would fit in the dual 10 box sold by supercrewsounds. They are optimized to work in a small box and according to most reviews I've read are above average subs for the price.

They are $125 + shipping each, plus the box would be $170 shipped = $420+.
So, out of your budget, but you could do a single and drop the price down to around $255+. Or there is a guy on diyaudio that has two for sale for around $160 for both.

Like I said just wanted to throw you another idea. I'm not endorsing this setup, as I have never heard the subs, but I am looking into doing this setup along with a few other options. This was going to be my budget option. They may actually cost more, but I'm not sure what Kicker CVRs cost.

Anyway, Good Luck!

Well since all i'm doing is amp and subs, it'd be 65, which is in fact less than 100.

Just read this thread.
Turned out to be quite possibly the biggest waste of time in my entire life.

What's kinda funny is with all the trash RED4X4 talks about these "orient" brands is that 90 percent of amps and subs are built overseas. My AQ1200D was built in China. So were mSalls coming-soon SI BMs. Its the quality of the parts that go into these products and the engineering behind them that matter, not where they happen to be built.

And if you think MMATS is a "bang for the buck" company then you're a ****ing retard.
