custom sub box help
i have had two 10 inch subs under my back seat and we custom made the box to fit. well the subs turned out to be not so great so we shipped them back and they sent us ones that are deeper then the other two. well we measured and it turns out the subs are maybe less than half an inch too deep for the box. my dad suggested we take a router and just sand off some of the bottom of the box to make it fix. has anyone ever tried this before? or know of some way to make the sub fit before having to buy a new box?
I recently had the same problem. Some sub box manufacturers cut a hole in the back of the box, around the magnet, then tack and glue a board onto the outside of the box, increasing the depth by the box material thickness. I ended up making a spacer ring out of 1/2" MDF. I just cut a circle slightly larger than the outside of the sub flange, then cut an inner circle slightly larger than the mounting diameter. Then screwed the sub through the spacer ring into the box...works like a champ...except for the fact that mine is down-firing and the sub now hits the friggin floor on excursion:o

i really have no idea what everything is. i know the sub is a blaupunkt gtw1000 10 inch. its 600W peat and 200W RMS. Its a 4-ohm.
we actually put it in last night and it fits so we don't have to cut it out.

Take a stack of 10 pennies, and put them at the bottom of the box where the magnet would hit it. Then see if it fits in with the pennies. If not keep keep removing them up until it fits. If the stack is anyless than 5, you need to cut to enable the driver to breathe.
